1Contributions in this section probe the history and development of prayer and learning. Whether it be tzitzit, tefillin, or kaddish, the contributors attempt to resolve the apparent conflict between a woman’s active spiritual devotion and the established Jewish practice. Rabbis over the years have dealt with the issues raised here and, continuing in their tradition, our authors’ halakhic analyses are precedent setting.
